Can you imagine what it would be like if we all had to be the very first thing we ever wanted to be when we grew up?
God, I would have made an amazing Mermaid/Goonie/Step-father.

God, I would have made an amazing Mermaid/Goonie/Step-father.
I would be an awesome dolphin.
Totally! I would be a super-fantastic roller skating waitress farmer’s wife!
Right! I’m off to be an intergalactic smuggler of the Han Solo variety. And a fireman. (Clearly I was not limited by traditional gender roles.)
I was going to be someone’s STEP-FATHER, so, HIGH FIVE on us being so fucking gender liberated!
*smacks hands*
It was a toss up between a mom and an older brother. The 80’s were confusing. Clearly.
When my brother was three, he got his first look at a motorized wheelchair. One of our neighbors had one, and it just fascinated him. He came home one night and said to my mom,
“Mom, when I grow up, I want to be a wheelchair-boy”.
Since before I can remember, I told people I was going to be a lawyer… I am now a lawyer. Obviously, I lack imagination. I blame all those afternoons watching Matlock and Perry Mason with my grandparents.
However, being a lawyer was a stepping stone to becoming the first female Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. I could still do it…
Tone death country crooner.
When I was little I begged my Mom to take us to Idaho because I wanted to marry a potato farmer. She would ask “why?” because potatoes are amazing you can do everything with them and they are delicious. This went on for 15 years! My Mom still says today that she is grateful I didn’t marry a potato farmer. The goal eventually changed to a a Irish Potato farmer because of the greatest movie EVER “Circle of Friends.”
Now I kind of wished I did….yum…POTATOES!
I was going to be Baby from Dirty Dancing. . . I am pretty sure I would have mastered the lift in no time!
Ah, but the boob-graze would have gotten you every time. ;)
The first thing I ever remember wanting to do when I grow up was to dig up dinosaur bones. Then I wanted to be an astronaut, the President, a chef, a writer, on broadway, a therapist….
I would have been Xena The Warrior princess, and a ballerina on the weekends. Dear god
I’m pretty sure the first thing I can remember wanting to be was a Solid Gold Dancer!
I also wanted to be a Mermaid!! I’ve always said I wanted to be a marine biologist (ever since I knew what one was) and I’ll be one soon! Only a few months left of grad school :)
I wanted to be a Ballerina Astronaut. Id have made a fantastic one.
I dreamed of being a bus driver…of the big yellow variety. Not one of those sub-par city bus drivers (obviously).
I would’ve be a female Indiana Jones/ paleontologist .
I would have been a princess with a long flowing gown who laid around all day reading books. Still sounds good to me!!
My son wanted to be a fudgepacker. My hubby had him convinced it would be fun to be the guy that puts the fudge in the box. I had a very terrifying moment at Kindergarten graduation when the teacher started going down the line asking kids what they wanted to be when they grew up. Thankfully, he surprised me and said Paleontologist.
I wanted to be an actress…I still am trying to be an actress lol…Sometimes I wish I would have switched things up and gone for something a tad more practical.
I wanted to join the circus. I was out to make my parents proud.
I wanted to be a princess. I was convinced that I was a descendant of Anastasia.
I would have been a garbage collector. Yeah…
I wanted first pick at all the cool stuff people threw away so I could repurpose it. I obviously had no concept of what actually went into garbage cans.
I would have been a veterinarian…who wept uncontrollably at the sight of sick/injured animals. Probably not super effective.
honey bee extraordinaire
I wanted to be a Billy Idol dancer.
I wanted to be Wonderwoman, a waitress, a nurse and a mom. I still want to be Wonderwoman.. but I am a mom so I guess I kind of am
hehe, I also wanted to be a waitress, nurse, and mom too! And yes, moms certainly are wonderwomen :)
OH I’m very glad I’m not what I wanted to be. I wanted to be a widow waitress. You see I thought widow meant a woman who had no children. My husband doesn’t like me to talk about my previous goals in life. And I wanted to be a waitress because they wore aprons and wrote in flip note pads.
I wanted to be a babysitter. I’m a teacher. I guess some dreams DO come true!
I still want to be a stewardess- but in First Class, of course!
I wanted to work at mcdonalds! I thought the workers there made a lot of money because my parents were always handing them cash through the drive through window. For Christmas one year they got me a mcdonalds outfit complete with visor and mouthpiece and plastic burgers to flip around.
/worked at bk for one miserable month in college
I wanted to be a neurosurgeon. I remember at 5 years old telling my mom I wanted to operate on peoples brains – we watched a lot of ER and true life surgery videos at my house for some reason?
I wish I had stuck to my guns.
I wanted to be a unicorn when I grew up. I still sorta think it could happen. It’s not too late to become a magical fantasy creature, right?
Lol my mom said the first thing I ever wanted to be was a puppy. That would have been awesome.
In elemantary school I wanted to be a rollerskating detective in Miami ( this was directly releated to Friday nights skating and coming home to watch Miami Vice!)
In Junior High on our “when I am 25” assignment I said that I would be a Harley-riding Lawyer.
I am not any of those things.
I would’ve been a fuckin’ bad-ass astronaut.
