On Curvy Girl Guide, I recently wrote about the lovey dovey relationship you can have with your wedding dress.
While walking down the aisle in my dress was fun, the second time I wore it was a blast.
My friend Ali recently had her Trash the Dress pictures taken (click here for a sneak peak!), and they inspired me to hunt down the shots I had taken a few years ago.
I had just had Wyatt, and worked my butt off to get back in shape. (I love you vodka and diet pills.)
When the dress finally zipped again, I headed out to the farm across the street from my grandfather’s house to have a little fun with my photographer.

Unfortunately, my dress was ruined a year later when my basement flooded. I was devastated, and used all the salvageable lace to make Gigi’s baptism gown.
I’d give anything to have it back, to pass down to my daughter…you know…so she could roll her eyes, deem it completely out of style, and refuse to wear it in favor of a see through dress with a bubble train and goat hoof earings.
Or whatever brides are wearing in the future.
Vodka is a diet drink? Why the hell didn’t anyone tell me?! I’ll be back in a bit, off to buy a whole damn case of vodka if it’ll make me look as good as you in those pictures!
If it LOOKS like water, it basically IS water. That’s a proven medical fact.
Agreed. That’s also why gin and tonic’s don’t count. The whole drink is see through and it comes with lime. Limes are good for you. I’ll never get scurvy.
you look like a huntress… were you hunting for a new husband?
Yes. One who gets up with the kids on the weekends and turns his socks right side out before leaving them all over the floor.
All that photo is missing is a Tractor, a shotgun, and a Confederate flag.
All three of those items are hidden in this picture.
Vodka and diet pills. <3 I got an actual out loud chuckle outta that one. :-)
Oh, hi btw. I'm Paula. Not sure if I've commented on your blog before but I've had you in my reader for awhile.
Hi Paula!
And the diet pill, vodka combo totally works. Unless you consider rapid heart rate and numbness on the left side a bad thing…
I absolutely LOVE your pictures.
I can’t believe I waited THIRTEEN years to get mine done.
Ali- I am DYING to see the rest of them!
Gorgeous shots!
I’m wondering if your dress was made of magic and unicorn hooves or something, because every time I even attempt to wear a strapless dress my boobs push the top down to my belly button.
Two things allowed my boobs to pull that dress off..
1. Dress boning.
2. A long line bra.
Could you please post a picture of Gigi’s baptism dress? I had always imagined using my wedding dress to make outfits for my children’s baptism but never got around to it :( Instead I left it in the empty closet along with my wedding album when I finally left my first husband.
YES. I am going to pull the pictures off an old harddrive tonight, it’s so easy, and totally gorgeous!
Fab photos.
Now I need to get a wedding dress and have a real wedding :) Darn the military with its low pay and inconvenient deployments.
Gasp! I LOVE the reddish hair on you! I can’t believe your tan is not real . . . it looks so natural. I’m definitely going to have to invest in a home sprayer thingy. Fun pictures!
It will save your life.
I’m about to sell my dress to pay for my airplane ticket to BlogHer. A decision I’ll regret? I have no idea. You look gorgeous, by the way.
Tough call! I sure do miss mine….
I sold my dress, and I totally regret it. That was going to be my comment and I saw yours and knew that I had to respond. At the time I was really young and we needed the money and I seriously thought it was no big deal because if I ever had a daughter she wouldn’t want to wear my dress, I didn’t wear my mom’s. But I still wish I had it. I can’t explain it. I just wish I did.
I don’t have my wedding dress any more. I cut it all up and made baptism gowns for my triplets.
I love that idea! I have seen so many of these trash the dress photo shoots. I think that if I can ever fit into my dress again (which may never happen) that I will definitely do this. I just happen to have a cousin who is an amazing photographer!
I’m completely out of touch with everything in the world marriage/babies-wise, and probably always will be due to my insanity and/or current wine drinking listening to Eva Cassidy on Youtube ways, but, and I’m more a taker than a giver of compliments, and that usually makes me an uncomplimented arsehole, this is really beautiful mate: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brittanyherself/5685534411/in/set-72157626643151128/
