I am beyond honored and excited to be meeting with the lovely Liz Manashil, who wrote and is directing the feature film Bread and Butter.
I wanted to share with you a piece she wrote in response to an article titled “This Woman is Too Fat for Hollywood,” regarding size 10 actress Romola Garai.
Read her amazing response here.
Sorry Hollywood, I’m entirely too fat for you.
Even more disturbing is that in the original article it says Romola is a size 10 UK – size 6 US!!!
Hollywood sucks. These aren’t real women….most of them are miserable (hence the drinking, drugs, multiple relationships, in & out marriages–because *they* can’t live up to the hype, expectations, photoshopping vs. Real life paparazzi shots with *gasp* a hint of cellulite, etc. Not to mention, those poor things are getting Botox, etc., in their 20s.
Furthermore, this whole thing messes up real life relationships. When a man sees his fave sex pot juggling around on a Victoria’s Secret Special only 8 weeks after having a baby, he wonders why his wife can’t do that. Well, she doesn’t have a full time trainer, chef, masseuse, doctor pumping her with diet pills, make up artist, hair artist and usually multiple nannies helping out.
This whole unhealthy cycle must be ended.
Brittany, you should totally try out for the lead in her movie! You would be perfect. Or Mindy Kaling. Speaking of whom, thanks for the book suggestion of “Everyone is Hanging out without me.” I am reading it on my Nook now, and it’s fabulous!
Also, who the hell thinks size 6 is fat?!
Holy cow. If Romola is fat…..I’m screwed.
I’m too fat for Hollywood too…sometimes I think I’m too fat for not-Hollywood as well!
