SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
This post contains SPOILERS for the October POPSUGAR Box. Do not read if you want to be surprised.
My favorite POPSUGAR boxes are the ones that come when I totally forgot I even get these things, and then it’s like WHEEEE SECRET SANTA!
So, a lot of people ask why I do POPSUGAR over other boxes, and there are two main reasons.
1. I am not a makeup hoarder, so getting boxes full of only beauty items isn’t fun for me.
2. The beauty items that we do get mixed in are full size. And if I had to pick my favorite size, it would be a tie between full and king.
So far, I’ve loved my POPSUGAR subscription, and it’s a fun “me” splurge each month (hello, a Neiman Marcus box is coming up!), but if it ever gets a little meh, I might give one of those awesome Fancy boxes a try.
Inside this box:
The Can’t Cook Book by Jessica Seinfeld. I am actually not a cookbook buyer, but it’s thick and I’ve been visually accosted by Mrs. Seinfeld all week via her ABC morning show media tour, so color me mildly interested at best.
NYX Liquid Liner and Smokey Shadow Palette. HIGH FIVE! I am actually out of both of these things, so I could not be more excited about not having to stand in the Target makeup aisle for an hour reading boxes.
Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet. This super cute pink bracelet is sold with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity Breast Cancer Connections. However, it does not fit my fat wrist. This goes in the Gigi pile.
Julep Nail Polish Duo. This is a little too dark for me, not a fan.
Jane Tran Bobby Pins. From someone perpetually growing out bangs, one can never have too many of these suckers laying about EVER SQUARE FOOT OF MY HOME.
The Wet Brush. Legend has it that this brush is supposed to get through wet hair with minimal pulling. We shall see.
The Crispery Halloween Crispycake. NO ONE TELL MY KIDS I HAVE THIS.
If you are interested, check out POPSUGAR here!
The bracelet is the 2nd thing I’ve got in a PopSugar box that doesn’t fit me. The necklace a few months ago looked like a terrible choker.
YES. I was so bummer, because the necklace was so cute, but TINY. I would have worn that to Boys II Men concert.
Dude…my kids watched me open my box. I had to hide the halloween crispycake.
Lesson learned. You open that shit alone, in the bathroom, with the water running.
My biggest problem with the box? My husband. He looks through it with me and tells me who I should set each item aside for. The cute flower coasters from last month? He is trying to give them to my sister-in-law. He thinks I should re-gift everything in the friggin’ box!
Can you have it delivered to work? That’s what I do co I can open my packages in the privacy of my office. No nosy companions because I close my door.
The wet brush does work. I gave both my daughters one for Christmas last year and they love them. My younger daughter has thick hair down to her waist and she now won’t use any other brush. Never heard of these box things (but then I’m older than dirt, so there’s that)…gonna have to check this out. Love your blog!
Thank you and now I’m extra excited about the brush!
Brittany- What were your thoughts on the Stitch Fix Gift Card?? You didn’t say. I’ve seen several complaints on PopSugar’s FB Page that Stitch Fix doesn’t cater to anyone over Size 14, (or boots you out of registering if you are) and several people were pretty upset about it. Are you familiar with them at all??
So yeah, I’ve actually heard tht about StichFix, but the reason I didn’t mention it is because like I said the last box, I am OVER the gift cards. I think they are stupid and I don’t even bother checking them out because they don’t ever equal a free item, but rather a discount on expensive stuff.
Agreed. That was my feeling on Charm & Chain. I was all excited for the $30 bucks until I saw the $200+ items. If you were lucky enough to find something that was $50, they were sold out. Thanks. Love your reviews- you are always so spot on. I had never heard of PopSugar until you… now I’m hooked and signed up for another 6 month! Love that I have something that is JUST MINE!!
FYI – NYX has a neutral palette that does wonders (http://goo.gl/bVGMV0). I like it just as much as Urban Decay.
I wasn’t too thrilled by this month’s popsugar box. Last month’s was OK, I liked the reed diffuser but not much else. Last month’s was also my first one, so I’m hoping that I’ll like next month’s, especially with the price increase!
I love Julep nail polish. It’s free of all the bad crap most polishes have. They have their own subscription service. For $19.99 a month you get at least $40 of product. You take a quiz to determine your style, but if you don’t like what’s in your box that month when they preview it, you can either swap styles or not take the month at all. Your first month is free and it’s month-to-month…no paying for 3 months if you don’t want to, but if you do want to pay for multiple months you get a discount. Plus, you get points for taking your box which you can trade in for upgrades. If you’re interested….http://www.julep.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/64265/
My ex ordered the box for me last month while we were still dating so it didn’t come until after I had broken up with him. He wanted me to give it all away but hey, he bought it while we were still dating, I think I should be allowed to keep it. I am giving away a few things, I’m a vegetarian so I can’t eat the crispy treat, I have a friend that the cookbook will be perfect for, and I’m thinking about giving the wetbrush to my roommate who sheds all over our bathroom floor.
How do you like that brush? I keep ripping my damn hairs out of my head.
Another winner from Popsugar in my book! Loved it.
I painted my fingernails with the blue nail polish yesterday. I thought it might be too dark, but I love it. If you just do one coat, it’s perfect.
