I am really bad at buying gifts for people. So, in place of me getting you something really awkward, like a foot file or a bust of your head that I made out of my kid’s moon dough, that actually looks less like you and more like Shooter McGavin, I’m just going to re-gift what I got you last year.
The single greatest holiday drink known to man.
The Bourbon Slushie.

Hands down, the best winter drink out there, and a hit at Holiday parties!
Ingredients
- 1 can frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
- 1 can frozen Lemonade Concentrate
- 7 cups strong brewed Black Tea (3-4 bags)
- Fifth of Bourbon Whiskey
- 2 liter of Sprite (Can also use 7Up, Ginger Ale, or Sierra Mist)
Instructions
- Boil water and steep tea until strong (about 20 minutes)
- In a freezer safe, sealable bowl, mix tea, all the juices (DO NOT ADD WATER), and bourbon whiskey.
- Freeze overnight.
- Before serving, mash it up a bit to get desired slush-like consistency.
- Scoop desired amount of slush into glasses, and top off with Sprite.
Notes
The bourbon can be completely substituted for RUM. The rum slushie is the bourbon slushie's way sluttier cousin.

Hot damn, BEST.GIFT.EVERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
Thanks and if I weren’t at work, I would totally be making this gift right now — 8:29 a.m. in the morning….oh yeah!
Have a wonderful, amazing Holiday!!
This slush is AWESOME! I have been making it for several years, but beware…..it will kick your ass! Also, you can also use whiskey which is my fav!
I’ve been drinking that for years! Love it!
AH! Sounds awesome!!! We usually make a bowl of “coon dog punch” which is just basically a huge bowl of whiskey sour. THis sounds delightful!
PS—your kids? A-freakin-dorable. :)
I heart bourbon, thanks Brittany!!
You should have called this “When re-gifting doesn’t suck balls”. Awesome. I’m gonna make some this weekend.
Bourbon slushie? My head is saying no but my body’s saying hell yes.
And Gigi’s piggietails are so cute I want to eat them. Is that weird?
i’m not sure what i like more. the christmas card OR the drink recipe.
god those kids are too freaken adorable..and gigi with those pigtails!!!! gah!
I make this slush with Southern Comfort – OMG so good!!!!
My ex husband’s family makes this every year during the holidays. And by family I mean, every household makes 2 or 3 jars to bring to the big family gathering at Grandma’s house. So the cousins sit around with several jars of it, and play cards all day.
When I left my ex, I left a lot of things. This recipe? Was not one of them.
You can make this with brandy too! Mmmmhmmmm!
OMG! your kids are too cute, and your little girl is like you super adorable mini you! Love it hope your family has the merriest Xmas! Thanks for posting my son is kn surgery and you’re my distraction.
I am so making this punch for our December game night! Thanks :)
Sounds yummy!! My BFF and i are going to try it!!
LOVE the card. xo
Yum.
I made this tonight….and OMG! So good! Thanks!!
LOVE that card!! Your kids are too cute! You are too!
If this is anything like skittles vodka i’m in a whole lotta trouble. Thanks in advance before the hangover.
And obviously, this is probably something else that is soon to be banned from my aunt’s house.
I love your blog! I totally lurk and I was in Vegas in spirit. I have to try this soon, but it reminds me of margarita punch. One bottle of mexican beer, one small can of limeade, one cup of tequila, and a 20 oz. bottle of 7-up. Mmmmmm….
I’ve had this, and it’s delicious. However, I would like to note for all interested parties that Southern Comfort now makes a SoCo LIME option. Beware, if you use it in this recipe, the alcohol will be even harder to detect. Thus, the slush will be even more dangerous…I mean, delicious….I mean, dangerous.
Happy holidays!
Brinney, I just, I need jou to know to know that I love, man. Like, I’m not jusss saying that cause I’ve deen brinking. I really love jou.
I love you too, girl. SO HARD.
And this is seriously the best Christmas gift. I plan to print out recipe cards to give to my lady tribe. And, you know, make some for them too! As I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown writing research grant proposals, research papers, and studying for 18 hours worth of finals, I just keep visualizing that by the time I’m at Camp Throwback that mother-loving diploma will be in my hand! Amen!
Then the celebration will be EPIC!
We make this with brandy. It is the most amazing drink on the planet.
I will use rum. And I am looking forward to this stress release beverage.
