Hello. My name is Brittany. I’m a size 14/16 (18 after Chipotle). I’m addicted to skinny jeans and accessories. And glasses. Super. Adorable. Glasses.
And I’m showing absolutely no remorse.
This week we have the fabulous Ritzy, stylist from eyeglass powerhouse Rivet & Sway, on hand with a panel of fellow fashion addicts to talk about what we love, what we hate, and we refuse to give up no matter what… I’m looking at you, adorable turban.
Huge thanks to my panel: Ritzy Ryciak, stylist at Rivet & Sway, Heather Fenner, Allison Kennedy, Jess Elaine , and Daisy.

I love love love the Spitfire, Punchline and Rizzo but I love all the funky colors.
Since you were so wonderful to show my face on the show and I got a recommendation, I love how she said that you want to try and find frames that are opposite of your face. So since I have round features, I need to look for more angles when it comes to frames.
Love your show every week! Thank you so much!
Royal Tortoise Meet Cutes are too cutes :-)
http://rivetandsway.com/womens-glasses/spitfire#Galapagos-Green
These are my favorite ones because I love the color of apple green. These appear to be close. Being rather big myself (size 20-22 and 6’2 1/2″ tall.) I find it a little tricky to find cute glasses with style. These scream style to me.
I am not a hipster. I’m a 46 yr old mom who is going back to college in the fall in pursuit of a new (or finally starting) a career instead of just a job. It’s intimidating to go to school with 20 yr olds.
The spitfire frames would be the ones I would wish that I could wear. in reality they may not work. I hope they do though. My previous frames that I have from my crappy insurance are more like the Umani or Rizzo (only not as cute).
Ritzy’s best tip which I hadn’t heard before was to find frames to follow your eyebrow curve. Good idea! I will try it. Still have no idea the shape of my face. I just wish I didn’t have a double chin and keep working to loose it.
Hey Christine,
I’m a 48 year old mom who’s been back in college for a year now. It’s a decision you’ll never regret. Good luck!
Cindie U.
Cindie, Thank you so much for the encouragement!! I am hopeful. It’s just a long road and a little bit frustrating when they tell me I need to retake classes. One day, one step at a time!
I really appreciate your post!!
Christine
Both Cindie and Christine: You ladies ROCK! I went back to college when I turned 45 and it was the best decision ever! I made fantastic life-long friends, got a “career” instead of a job, and loved the fact that I actually learned new things that I use every day!
I never thought about measuring your favorite frames and sending them. It’s a great place to start if you’re not sure what works for you!
Loved this. I’m ditching my contacts!
BÉSAME MUCHO….. are the ones for me. I love the bold red of the Heat Wave color choice. I always say “If you have to wear glasses, make a statement! ”
I like Ritzy’s advice that opposite attract. Round face… square frames.
My favorite tip was if you have rounder features go with a moreangular frame. This made me happy because I love square glasses!
I have a total girl crush on you! I love the fact the you live in Ohio too and I can say “my super cool friend Brittany said…”! :)
I am in love with Rivet & Sway’s “Rizzo” (and who can’t help but think of the super cool Pink Lady in ‘Grease’?!) I have slowly been losing my sight due to both age (how the hell did I get to be 48?!) and as a side effect of MS, so I have cheater readers all over the house, car and in every purse and a pair of totally ugly “men’s” glasses because I thought they were ok, but clearly they are not! So I am usually resorting to holding the paper out as far as I can, squinting or closing one eye, or (and this is soooo sad…) having my husband read me the menu when the freaking font is like the size of a pinhead! I’m tired of this shit dude! I need some real glasses! lol
However, I hate the face in the mirror when I am trying on glasses (well, actually I usually hate what I see, but that’s a whole other matter, which I am trying to work on, thanks to you) so even though they look cute on the rack, look cute on someone else, when I put them on I see something awful in the mirror when I try them on.
My favorite tip from Ritzy is that we have a ‘barrier’ and can’t see our face shape or how glasses look and we need someone else to give an opinion….but my advice for that is NOT to have your teenage son give his opinion….trust me! lol
Rock on girl!
I love Je Ne Sais Quoi and All Who Wander!
I love Rizzo in crushed velvet.
The Punchline breaks my heart (and my fat head)! I love it so so so much but there is no way I can squeeze my face into those.
So…the Spitfire in cherry bomb! I’ve been dying for a sassy read pair of glasses and these are puuuuurfect! (see what I did there? purr? cat eye?)
Last night was a lot of fun seeing everyone rock such cute specs. As someone who just can’t wear contacts due to the most awkward astigmatism I’ve gotta look for and rock the cutest glasses I can find!
I’m loving the Kairo, but most of all I’m in love with the idea of having more than one cute pair of glasses. I’ve worn glasses since I was 2, and it gets ooooold having only one pair at a time. I’m bored with the look long before it is time for a new prescription!
My favorite advice from Ritzy last night was her advice to try color and shapes you don’t think would work for you until you try. It was really evident when she was trying on the new collection and all those frames were soooooo different and gave her a different look but still worked. She was fun! They hiring? ;)
Love, love, love the Punchline in Neapolitan!
I love Spitefire! I can’t wait to try this!
My favorite tip was when Ritzy said that we should find glasses that span our face. I’ve fallen into the trap before of getting glasses that were too small and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with them, but just had an epiphany when Ritzy was talking! They were much narrower than my face and thus made my face appear larger than it actually is.
Again, I love the Punchline in Neapolitan.
I like the Faster Pussycat and actually do need new glasses! Would be tempted to try several styles! Also, you’re not going to want to leave Seattle! The PNW might steal you away! :)
Steph
I LOVE the Rizzo frames in Crushed Velvet. Pick me! I must have these… I’m wearing these sad black wire frames because they were free with my insurance and I’m broke. They make me sad inside. I need beauty for my face!
I’ve been wanting Spitfire for so long. It really looks fierce!
I love Derring-Do in Vino Rosso.
I am in LOVE with Six Shooter in St. Tropez.
Core Strength! I love. The best tip, if you have a round face, no round frames. No wonder I can never find sunglasses that don’t make me look like a freak.
I really like the honeydip rizzo.
Ah, those look like the Je Ne Sais Quoi…I have those frames in water lily and love them! The color is gorgeously complimentary with your skin tone and hair color.
Totally love the Punchline in Neopolitan. I have a pair very similar already (minus the pink) but would love to funk up my look like that!
Umami / Crocodile – LOVE!!!
Faster Pussycat! Love them!
Most definitely either Character Study in Purple or Petit Allegro in Roasted Chestnut!!
I like that she said that although there are rules for each face shape and what will work with your face, they’re not in stone and we can change it up and go with something different. And that difference can really work for us. :)
Love the Rizzo but am torn with the Besame Mucho in heatwave.
My favorite tip from Ritzy was to not go with wire frames if you have to have a thicker lens, they will show the lens thickness even more than a plastic frame.
SPITFIRE!! Like the black or the galapagos green :)
Oh wow. I totally love the Derring-Do in Vino Rosso!
I love the Mantra, and I’d get it in Crocodile because I’m loving the idea of green glasses. They have a lot of cute styles, and what a great idea to let you try on the frames in your home!

Purple is my color and I love the shape. Could use these.
I have not been able to watch last call the last two weeks. Old relic iPad 1 will not show the video anymore.
You know I can’t choose just one favorite Rivet and Sway style, but right now I’m loving Spitfire in Cherry Bomb. Can’t wait to watch the video later this weekend!
Six Shooter in Copper Penny is my favorite. The frames I have now are close to the St. Tropez color or I would choose those.
The best tip from the show was about using your frames as self expression. I’ve always thought eye makeup looked weird on me so my frames are absolutely what I use to highlight my eyes.
Just watched the video and I love the tip about balancing your feature type with your glasses. I have soft features, so I’ll be looking for more angular frames. This was a great show!
My favorite are Derring Do: http://rivetandsway.com/womens-glasses/derring-do#Vino-Rosso
I love the color and since I my face is a true round shape, I think this style would work for me. The color is gorgeous too!
LOVE color of the St. Tropaz Six Shooter frames!!
Best tip: Size matters! (But we knew this, right?). Choose a frame which spans the width of your face!
I’ve been suffering with my uncomfortable contacts for months because I left my (relatively new) pair of glasses at a Thai restaurant and couldn’t get them back because the restaurant owners apparently took off with them to Thailand (not kidding!). Oh well… at least the food is delicious!
Rivet & Sway seems awesome, and I’ve been really meaning to get around to order a couple pairs to check out :) I lovvve Pillowtalk (the one Ritzy featured in this video), but it’s still not available for sale! But a close second for me is the Punchline frame in the Neapolitan color scheme — and that’s not just because I can go through a full quart of neapolitan ice cream in one go :P I’m just loving the pop of color and am sick of a lifetime of jet-black frames.
Also — Ritzy face shape tip? Completely necessary. I happen to have a weird hybrid face (circle/heart anyone?) and always freaked out over how to pick the right frame, but now I feel at peace with my choice ;)
I absolutely adore the spitfire, especially in the cherry bomb color.
My favorite tip would have to be when Ritzy mentioned finding a pair of glasses that kind of match up to your eyebrow shape. I never would have thought of that!
I’m torn between the Ruby Reds and the Six Shooters; both are lovely in their own delightful ways. (Honestly, Six Shooters in the Mardi Gras colorway would be fantastic!).
My favorite Ritzy tip is size matters! I have a heart-shaped face but it’s really wide at the top, which usually pushes me (even when I was thinner) into men’s frames for a good width. Love that there’s a nice selection of wider frames that are feminine & striking!
I love the Six Shooter and the Ruby Red. Like a slightly modern cat eye with a bit of a bow tie flare.
Ritzy’s best tip: Start with your face shape & width as a foundation, but don’t necessarily discredit frames not within those boundaries.
(PS: If another post turns up, totally remove this one. I thought I posted but the post never showed up in the comments queue.)
I really liked:
Pinstripe–Honey
Mantra–Crocodile
Character Study –Mardi Gras
My favorite tip was going for a style that is OPPOSITE to the shape of your face. I hadn’t realized that was what I had done with my current glasses (I have a medium round face and chose a more square green frame). It certainly makes sense when you think about it.
I just like wearing glasses because I look cute and they make me feel smart. :)
I loved:
Pinstripe–Honey
Mantra–Crocodile
Character Study–Mardi Gras
I really liked Ritzy’s tip about looking for a frame that is opposite to your face shape. I subconsciously must be doing this as I have a more square/boxy style for my current frames (in a great green color).
I loved:
Pinstripe–Honey
Mantra–Crocodile
Character Study–Mardi Gras
I appreciated the tip about using the opposite shape of your face to find a style of frame that suits you.
My fav glasses are the “pillow talk” that she modeled which are coming out in August. I hope that still counts even though they are not official yet.
For my extra entry, my favorite style tip was about how the glasses should follow the curve of your brow. I collect glasses and tried them all on to see how they went with the curve of my brow. I started out a total Rivet and Sway hater because I thought they were a Warby Parker rip off but twice the price. Now, I am still a loyal Warby fan but Rivet has some seriously nice frames. I am def more open to buying a pair after watching Last Call. They were so right on to hook up with you Brittany!!!
Crocodile Umamis would work great on my heart-shaped wider face, Brittany. Pick me, pick me!
