Confession: By the time the Real Housewives of New York 2 part reunion specials rolled around, I was over it and didn’t even watch. I mean, aside from fighting over I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT, what would they rehash? Product lines? Album sales? How much weight Simon has gained and how ridiculous he looks with that Caesar haircut? Pass.
But, I’ve always had a soft spot for New Jersey.
I didn’t know what to expect during part 1 of last night’s RHONJ Reunion, but I sure as hell didn’t expect to feel as uncomfortable as I did.
I could be getting a pap smear in the middle of our annual Corn Festival Parade by a goat wearing rubber gloves and felt less unsettled.
Now, I used to be a Teresa fan, but like everyone else, I grew tired of her crazy shit mid-season, but seriously, how much would it have sucked to be her last night?
The entire one hour reunion show was a blow by blow attack on Teresa, and very little of it dealt with things that actually happened during filming, but rather, intimate lawsuit questions and back alley family issues that came out during non-stop jabs.
The only clip they actually showed was the still mind boggling baptism of Joe and Melissa’s son, and then a Christmas montage of Melissa getting a rolex and Teresa getting gloves.
While I understand that the only other major non-Teresa shit to go down this season was with Jacqueline’s spoiled-ass daughter Ashley, and Jacqaueline wasn’t there to go into deatails, but really?
It reminded me of when I was in 7th grade, and I was home puking my guts out with the stomach flu, and between running to the toilet, my 3 best friends called me together to tell me I was a fat skank and that they never wanted to see me again. I switched schools for 2 months because I couldn’t take the bullying.
I am not saying Teresa isn’t insane and deserved to be called out for being an asshole, but that was a little much.
I’m not a member of their family, and I can only piece together what I see on the show and read on their blogs, but I think, in the beginning, everything Teresa was saying about Melissa and Kathy was true. I think Melissa was a shit stirrer and Kathy sided with her, and they snuck onto this show to be famous. But somewhere, between the endless financial and court stress, on top of having the two people you hate the most now on your television show, and your husband turning into a fat, lazy felon (seriously, was there a single shot of Joe Giudice upright and not shirtless in bed at all hours of the day?), Teresa felt cornered and desperate, and ditched the calm and cool high road for total insecure insanity.
And just like that, Melissa went from looking like a divisive, spoiled villain, to a saint.
An entire hour of them putting Teresa on the spot to explain her catty behavior, every so often, the now irrelevant Caroline Manzo chiming in with her Marlon Brando-esque sound bytes.
I have no idea what next Sunday’s conclusion will entail, but I imagine it will include Teresa entering stage left, schlepping a giant wooden cross on her back while everyone tells Melissa how pretty her singing voice is.

Gah. Now you make me want to get back into RHONJ which means I will have to watch the entire season on OnDemand so I can understand the reunion shows.
I watched it last night and it was a Teresa bashfest. That said, I can’t recall very many times that I would describe Teresa as calm and cool or a taker of the high road. This is the woman who flipped a table, chased a crazy bitch out of a country club screaming, and threw Andy Cohen around the studio like my dogs toss their chew toys.
I do agree with you that she’s probably ready to snap, and I know I would be if I was married to that swindling, prison-bound piece of garbage and had four little kids to support. She might be an asshole, but I think everyone needs to back off already.
I missed it! How did that happen?! DVR automatically set to record DOESN’T recognize the
new title” when it’s a reunion show! Ugh…well, I’m sure it will replay.
I am really glad to know I am not the only Teresa fan who decided she is slowly going bat-shit crazy. I was really annoyed with Melissa in the beginning…and On DISPLAY…really? I mean, what paparazzi was even concerned with her then?? But as time went on, I started liking Melissa more and more…and Teresa less and less. Still don’t love Kathy, but I love Caroline so I have enough people to make the show worth watching. I just don’t get what Teresa’s deal is…and seriously, when Joe fell down and busted his tooth…I just stopped thinking there was an ounce of ANYTHING worth a shit regarding him.
I used to be a fan of Teresa, but not after this season. I don’t think last night was a bashing, I think she bashed her family all season and finally got called out about it. If she had been honest all along and didn’t betray her friends/family, she wouldn’t be in this situation. Who knows how much of the show is true, but given what we saw, I can’t feel sorry for someone who gets called out on for a bunch of shady stuff and trying to hurt her family.
I was a fan of Teresa too, but I think a lot of that stemmed from her friendship with Jacqueline and Caroline – the three of them as friends and almost family was great to watch. Melissa and Kathy obviously came on the show to make a name and promote their “products”, so it was easy to go along with what Teresa said. But, then Teresa turned on her friends – WTF was that about? To go from the “Friends-giving” to slamming them in her book does not make sense. If Teresa came out and said “my family is going through a rough patch, I need to sell books, so I am going to put some gossip in a cookbook to make it sell” her friends probably would have been ticked, but not really cared. Instead it was all behind their back and Teresa ended up looking like a big lying, B. Also, is she really as dumb as she appears? Her husband sent them into bankruptcy and she is STILL not paying attention to their finances?!
I couldn’t agree more. Theresa got called out for all the instigating she did this season. She’s ruined a lot of relationships, with family and friends, and yet she always tries to play the role of the martyr. When is she going to realize that she is the common denominator there? She needs to accept responsibility for her faults (for real… not just in speech) and stop holding grudges against the people who care(d) about and support(ed) her most.
Is anyone else dying to know what happened with Jacqueline? And Dina???
Yeah no. I just can’t agree. Teresa is the common denominator in all these effed up relationships. She is selfish and refuses to admit she does anything wrong. That cookbook? Are you kidding me?? Ugh. I seriously can’t stand her. I watched some episodes from the first season and her personality then compared to now is like night and day. She was sweet and friendly then. Now? Total ass who is completely self-absorbed. Ugh. I don’t feel sorry for her at all and last night didn’t have to go the way it did. If she’d have acknowledged that she’s hurtful then I think the other ladies would have backed off. She is just icky.
hilarious insight on joe giudice (being in bed and shirtless). and caroline being marlon brando. nail on the head right there.
but you’re siding with teresa? really? really? no way.
she’s wackadoo. not that melissa is a saint.
ah hell, the whole group is crazy – that’s why we watch them.
but i did have a moment last night where i worried about teresa and thought i hope she doesn’t end up like russell armstrong. they are exploiting her financial issues for ratings.
i don’t know if i agree that they are exploiting her financial issues for ratings, i think they just keep asking because she will not admit anything in her life is wrong. the whole season, and last night on the reunion show as well, she was acting like everything was fine. even after their meeting with the lawyer she acted like it was no big thing!
andy cohen is the king of awkward silences! he leaves just the right amount of time to let you know he could press further, but won’t. those awkward silences are one of my favorite parts of the reunion shows!!!
Yeah I agree, I adore Andy, but I think with some stuff, I am ok not knowing everything. I am sure her money situation is humiliating, and trying to just keep up a strong front like everything is normal must be exhausting.
Like when Sonja on RHONY declared bankruptcy, we got some info, not all of it,and I was ok with that.
I am not siding with Teresa at all, but I am just saying, I get why they are picking on her, but I doubt we ever get the full story with things, and to have an ENTIRE show just attacking her, and nothing else, was just….too much. I was so uncomfortable.
I would have felt that way with anything, because yes, how much do you go after one person, on national television?
I used to really like Caroline but now I cannot stand her. She is a bitter hypocritical shrew. She and her spawn took every opportunity to bash Teresa this entire season and she wants to moan and cry about one or two comments in a cookbook? She pretty much blames Teresa for everything short of global warming. Please leave my television forever.
Teresa is not as likeable for me as she used to be, but still I felt for her and I still like her; however, I also like Melissa. She has some shit-stirring tendencies too but overall she seems pretty cool. I am completely indifferent to Kathy, and I don’t like Jac at all. It would make me happy if they dumped Caroline and sweet talked Dina back into the fold. I liked her a lot.
You know, you made a good point. Caroline and her kids took shots at Teresa and Ashley all season. And sure, maybe being snarky behind someone’s back is one thing, but it wasn’t behind their backs, it was on TV.
I think Caroline had no story line all season. She just kinda wandered around her big house in her sweatpants. Nothing really evolved, not her daughters weight stuff, not her son’s black water stuff, nothing.
I am not sure if this was her attempt to be relevant or not.
Verrrry interesting! See I’ve never been a big Theresa fan…I felt bad about her relationship with her brother, but any time ANYONE has tried to have a conversation with her it’s like she’s ten and just doesn’t comprehend logic. Everyone is just always out to get her.
That being said, I definitely felt bad for her the way EVERYONE was jumping all over her. I thought Andy would try to keep things a little more balanced than that, but even HE seemed to have a vendetta with her.
If I were Theresa I never would have entertained the questions about my finances…how is that anyone’s business but her and her husbands? She didn’t owe any of them an explanation.
Can’t wait for tonight’s episode!
it was really hard to watch. and caroline has become so freaking holier than thou, i cannot handle it. i miss jaqueline and the blonde sister.
It’s no surprise that I totally agree with u, think what u want about teresa that show reunion was so cool, lost all respect for andy (well as much respect as u can have for a tv “personality”) if anything publically flogging her like that, created more fans instead of alienating them like caroline so desperately wanted to do.
