If you haven’t heard of Lena Dunham yet, you will.
I’m a recent convert to the critically acclaimed HBO series ‘Girls.’ The show centers around a group of twenty-something girlfriends and their lives in New York City. Don’t expect it to be anything like Sex in the City. The show’s star, Lena Dunham, plays an amazing aspiring writer and protagonist Hannah.
What I love about this show is that the actors, especially Lena, are not what you would consider “Hollywood beautiful.” They are not a size zero, they are not tan-o-rexic. They are simply raw, honest, flawed, brilliant and real.
Furthering our love for her, Lena Dunham doesn’t just star in the show, she is also the creator, writer and sometimes director….all this at age 26!
This in itself garnered Lena 4 Emmy nominations this past year. Way to go, Lena, for defying the standard, becoming a Hollywood player at an extremely young age, and proving to the world that talent is more important than fitting a specific stereotype.
We love Lena Dunham.
