Well, what a fine example this sets for young women.
Mexican Beauty Queen, Cynthia de la Vega, claims officials took away her crown before she could compete is Miss world, all because she gained weight.
While officials claim it wasn’t because of her weight, per say, they say they yanked it due to de la Vega “not complying with the recommendations and goals agreed upon for her preparation.”
What those goals and recommendations are were not revealed.
But,unless they found this girl spread eagle on a porn site, busted with coke in her purse, we fail to see the reasoning here beyond weight gain.
I mean, our US Beauty queens have done worse and kept their crowns…granted…they were all still skinny?
What a scary argument this all brings to light. What are you thoughts?

As much as I hate for anyone to be judged based on their weight, I’m also not a fan of beauty pageants. And the reality is, when you sign up for a beauty pageant, you’re volunteering to be judged based on your physical appearance. If your physical appearance no longer meets the standards for beauty as defined by the pageant criteria, then I guess you’re going to be removed from the competition.
True, Audrey. But then they try to tell us that it’s ‘not about physical appearance, it’s about character’. So they end up talking out of both sides of their mouth. In this case I would say the pageant organizers should be clear as to what ‘standards’ she failed to uphold. If she does have some hidden porn or drug photos or other ‘conduct unbecoming’, why not counter her argument that it was just her weight?
How much did she gain? Three lbs or 30 lbs? Didn’t say in the article.
