No, really.
We’re all for individuality, personal style, and wearing your perfect dress at your own wedding.
But there’s a line that shan’t be crossed.
German bridal house, Kaviar Gauche, crossed that invisible line of taste last week when they revealed this “wedding” dress on the runway at Berlin Fashion Week.

Yes, that is a thong wedding dress.

Is it meant to shock and awe the viewer? Yes.
Is it in poor taste? Probably.
Would a father disown his daughter before walking her down the aisle if she wore this? Most definitely.
You have our attention now, Kaviar Gauche. Now design something worth wearing.
And yet, I am sure there is a stripper somewhere who would say yes to this dress.
“Gauche” is right.
Or a Toddlers & Tiaras mom who might get it sized down for their 3 year old for a pageant.
I’m sure there are plenty of “Fashionistas” who thought that was so ingenious. Give me a break
And right now, Courtney Stoddard is planning her vow renewal ceremony, so she can wear this…
The only tacky thing I see here is that you can see her tan thong under the wedding g-string…
But for real, are mosquito-nets-as-veils popular now?
I don’t think that meets the definition of “dress”. The designer got what he wanted, his name on people’s lips.
I see this differently. I think this is an artistic statement to be thought about with some depth. I think the artist is addressing the traditional roles of female ownership. The similarity to the design of the burka is right on. I think the straps look more like bonds or chains. I think the feeling of degradation this portrays is purposeful. DO I like it? Not really, but I do appreciate it.
Hmmm… I think you are looking at this thru too American of a lens… I lived in Germany for a few years, and while I certainly never saw anything like this coming out of Town Hall (where weddings are held), the Germans view nudity (or near nudity) in a completely different way than Americans do. It’s just not a big deal there. You see nudity everywhere- billboards, magazines, beaches. I don’t think this dress was nearly as shocking to the Germans as it is to Americans.
Lory-I must agree….while I’m not European, I know there’s less of a stigma there.
To be seen shortly on the people of walmart website…probably worn by a dude.
Looks like the white strip going down the middle has an arrow pointing straight down to her vagina… At least it comes with “direction” if you’re an inexperienced groom! LOLOL
