Save the Date!

in Style & Beauty

The idea for Curvy Girl Guide came to me while I was brushing my teeth.

It was November, and I was thinking about how I had wanted to order some wide calf boots, but I couldn’t find a picture online of someone who looks like me, wearing them.

I spit, rinsed and called my partner, Heather.  She was used to getting these calls.

Oh my God, I just had the best idea…

But this time, she didn’t think I was crazy.  24 hours later, Curvy Girl Guide was born.

This movement has been life changing, and our next project represents every reason we wanted to start it.

The women of the Curvy Girl Guide have partnered with Lands’ End to celebrate women of all sizes this swim suit season.  This summer, we’re done hiding in cover ups and giant t-shirts.  This summer, we are going to own our bodies and get in the pool with confidence.

Consider this your Save The Date, for an event that is going to take over Lands’ End, the Curvy Girl Guide, New York City, as well as National television.

We’re ready to show the world what real, confident women look like.

We have so many announcements and information to give you, but first, check out the details below to learn about all the ways we plan on giving you a chance to get a swimsuit you’ll love, as well!

So proud to be a part of all this (words I never expected to say while showing the world a picture of me in my swimsuit). Yay swimsuit confidence!

What a coincidence – I will be down in Myrtle Beach that week. Wearing a swimsuit. And all my suits are Lands End.

Maybe I will have my husband snap a picture. I’ll have to be drunk though.

Brittany May 16, 2011 at 10:30 am

Drunk swim suit pics totally count.

I was so with you until the part about posting a photo of myself in a swimsuit on my blog. I will have to dig deep to find my swimsuit confidence for that.

Brittany May 16, 2011 at 10:31 am

Take your time, there are still loads of ways to be a part of it without traumatizing your comfort zone. It’s a process. wine helps. :)

AmazingGreis May 16, 2011 at 8:15 pm

You can DOOOO it! Swimsuit and picture in a swimsuit are two things I never thought I’d put in the same sentence.

You probably think I’m kidding when I say this is life changing, but I’ve gone most of my life trying not to be photographed in bathing suits (including the 8 years I was a springboard diver), so voluntarily taking a picture in a bathing suit, one that many, many people will see was huge. If I can do it, you can do it.

AmazingGreis May 16, 2011 at 8:15 pm

Ditto!

Amy @ A Little Nosh May 16, 2011 at 1:57 pm

VDog May 17, 2011 at 2:35 pm

Do they have maternity swimsuits? :)

Krista May 26, 2011 at 12:06 pm

Kind of random- but going back to your inspiration for wide-calf rainboots, have you tried Ilse Jacobsen? They lace up and fit wonderfully!
It’s a Swedish line but there are somehere. :)

On another note, huge thumbs up for the Lands End partnership! It’s about time we all start accepting and loving ourselves!

Have a great summer.

Torrid has fabulous knee-length and over boots that are wide cut for all of us with muscly calves and cankles! As soon as my paychecks start coming in, I’m buying all of them!
