Fashion Friday on Monday: Mishelle

in Style & Beauty

When you know what works for you, you work it, right?  Right!

I know what works for me, and that’s my legs.   They are long, muscular, and nicely shaped.   And, that’s why I was so jazzed when leggins came back in style.  Lately they are the center of the outfits I put together.

I have a couple of dresses that I love to pair with various leggins.   I love to add either a vest, a cropped jean jacket, a sweater, scarves, hats, or long necklaces to change the look, because, honestly, my wardrobe is a little lacking.   So, I have to make do with what I have, and it really is amazing how you can create different looks with minimal pieces.

Here are some of my favorite outfits that give me confidence while accentuating my best assets.  Also, I love to wear my tall, slouchy leather boots, but I’ve also coupled these outfits with high heeled ankle boots or ballet flats, on different occasions.

It would seem that I live a monochromatic life.  And, that’s kind of true.  I just love black, white, and gray!  But, I digress…

Where did I get these fashion finds, you ask?

  1. The black leggins and the jean jacket are from The Gap.
  2. I found the gray leggins at Target (where I also got a back up black pair, but refrained from buying the white because that’s just wrong.)
  3. The dress in the top two pictures is also from The Gap, and it’s actually a maternity dress, but that’s our little secret, okay?
  4. I picked up the dress with the flowers on a clearance rack at Wal-Mart.  Yes, Wal-Mart!
  5. The gray sweater and black and white striped scarf are from Lane Bryant.
  6. The red scarf (my favorite scarf in the whole wide world) was found at TJ Maxx for less than seven dollars.
  7. The asymmetrical gray vest (which I wear A LOT) is from Fashion To Figure.

Fashion to Figure is a clothing store that specializes in plus sized clothing, making it fashionable and affordable.   There are some stores you can visit in New York and New Jersey, but their online shop is just awesome.

What’s even more awesome is that Fashion to Figure is the sponsor of today’s post!

One lucky commenter will get their choice of either a pair of jeans, a dress, a striped cardigan with matching cami, or an accessory like this ring or necklace.

To be entered in the Fashion To Figure giveaway, in the comment section, just tell me what your best asset is and how you accentuate it.

This contest runs today only, ending tonight at midnight EST. One winner will be randomly selected. One entry per person, please.

The prize is being provided by Fashion To Figure.
Thanks Fashion To Figure!

[Disclosure:  The vest from FTF was sent to me to review, but I was not compensated otherwise.]

I, too have great legs. I have been totally rocking the leggins and short skirts/long sweaters! No one notices the 25+ lbs I put on after quitting smoking over 3 years ago!! Woohoo!

I’m thinking my legs. If I’m going out, or I need to dress up for anything I always go short. My chest is pretty small, I don’t have much of a waist and my ass is non-existent, but I do have nice legs.
And I’m loving tights this winter, so fun!

Best assets gotta be the boobs…wearing empire waist dresses or shirts or shirt dresses works for me! Hides any other problem/self conscious areas and makes me feel better about everything else!

I know I have a great set of girls. Together we can rock a low cut shirt in a very classy way!

Kassia December 27, 2010 at 8:40 pm

So cool! I so need to focus on the good…hard to do sometimes!
I would say my best asset would be my bust. I have lots of boob…which now that I really think about it that could also be a bummer but mostly it’s a good thing!

You look awesome in these pics….will you please come dress me? I tend to cover everything in big and baggy and look like a giant muffin most days…lol……which leads to my best asset being my hair…on a good day……so glad you pointed ,me to this site…I’m shopping now!

I had to ask the boyfriend since I usually think my entire body is “What not to wear”. His answer won him a free pass for the next argument. “I like the whole package, but if I had to pick one thing in particular, it’d be your boobs. My God they’re a national treasure.”

I prefer to hike them up where they’re supposed to be and adorn them with a low cut shirt.

My butt is my best asset. I have some junk in the trunk. A great pair of jeans, boots and the right top has my husband tripping over his tongue.

Amanda December 27, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Um.. that’d be “the girls” and with the right V-neck or a long necklace to pull the eyes lower I look fabulous! Hey when you’ve been rocking them since the 3rd grade.. you figure out how to make them.. ahem.. pop… lol!

Bree December 27, 2010 at 10:13 pm

I would say the “girls”. Well at least before the baby they were! They look great in low cut tops, especially baby doll types.

I love my butt which I show off in well-fitting jeans. I also like my eyes which look hawt with the smoky look.

Amy December 27, 2010 at 11:23 pm

I generally don’t go for a best asset and try to make it a smoke show. I just tryyyyy to be confident about my whole self and show all of it off. When that doesnt work, I think I have really nice arms (from the elbow down) so I always try to wear accenting bracelets and 3/4 length sleeve shirts.

OMG, those boots are to die for! I do love a good boot!

I’m with you, my legs are my best asset. I always got complimented on my legs when I was younger, and mercifully, they’re the one place that I haven’t gained a ton of weight, or suffered that all-over body droop since having a baby!

I rock the leggings as often as I can, and spent most of summer in shorts!
