One of my favorite things to do is look in women’s magazines at what the models are wearing to get inspired. Of course, the stuff they’re wearing is all designer, all over $1,000 a piece, and that’s not really in my budget.
So, we’re starting a new feature here called Fashion Friday. Each week we will feature a photo of one of us in our most favorite outfit or accessory. We will tell you why that special piece makes us feel beautiful, sexy, confident as Hell, and if you love it as much was we do, where you can scoop it up for yourself!
The best part? Everything is MUCH more affordable than in the magazines.

This is an outfit I love to wear during the colder months. Every piece makes me want to strut my stuff.
The jeans are the most expensive thing I have on, from Joe’s Jeans.

Joe’s Jeans fit my curves perfectly. This is the Best Friend cut that retails for $165. The best part? I got them on sale for 50% off. Right now if you order through their website you can get 15% off if you use promo code JoeGivesCheer.
I bought the sweater last year for $49 at H&M when I was pregnant. I love stretchy knits, they hit me just right. I found a similar piece at H&M this year, also for $49.

Or this one by DKNY, on Zappos:

I love flat, slouchy boots, you can dress them up or down. Mine are from Dress Barn!

These are a similar pair I found at my favorite accessories site, ShoeDazzle. You can get them there for only $39—with free shipping to the United States!
Do you have a confidence outfit? A pair of shoes that makes you walk on air all day? A necklace that makes you smile when you catch your reflection in the mirror? A dress that oozes sexy and strength? We’d love to feature you on Fashion Friday.
Email us at curvygirlguide@gmail.com with Fashion Friday in the subject line and include a picture of you rocking it, a few sentences telling us why you love the piece, where you purchased it, and we’ll feature you on an upcoming Fashion Friday!

I was wearing something earlier this week that I felt va-va-voom in, and now I can’t remember what it was.
I’m sure I was wearing Sorrelli, because whenever I wear anything Sorrelli, I feel purty.
My confidence outfit includes leggins and a vest. FOR. SERIOUS.
Pics or it didn’t happen!
If you post pics, can you include whatever top you wear with it? Because I scored my first pair of leggings but I have no idea what to wear up top.
And Heather, you look GORGEOUS. I love how that outfit is warm enough for cold weather but dressy enough to go out!
I wear leggings a lot – I actually wear leggings with that top! My rule with leggings is that the top MUST cover my butt. Tunics, sweaters, and long cardigans are great!
Amen to the top covering the booty. My rule, too, regardless what size my butt is at any given time!
Long sweaters work great with leggings for winter.
LOVE the boots. MUST.HAVE.
I have Joe’s Jeans (provocateur). I LOVE THEM. Found them on mysterious sale rack at Macy’s for $60. Had to buy a second pair at regular price.
I love Joe’s Jeans & Sevens. But then I discovered GAP jeans and I love them as well.
HOW CAN THIS BE?
Ooooh, I want those jeans.
Camarillo Outlets!!!
You couldn’t look bad even if you tried, lady.
aw, thanks you!
I have three pairs of Joe’s jeans. LOVE
I love this feature! I always get depressed looking at the ‘hottest looks’ in the top fashion mags because there is no way I could ever afford any of it! You look so cute!! Work it!
In NYC I lived in H&M and Forever 21!!!
OH and Pookie and Sebastian!!! Remember that place?!
Great idea! I love the magazines too but always choose to hunt for similar looks at lower prices… Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack even good ol’ Mossimo at Target usually fit the bill.
I shop at Target and Ross Dress For Less all the time! Next time I share I’ll do an all-discount stores edition!
Totally LOVE the outfit and the links to the different pieces you posted but WOW……….I’m such a cheapskate that spending over $30 for an entire outfit would not only give ME a stroke but probably send my husband in cardiac arrest. Yeah, we’re poor but soon…..my youngest will be in school full time and I’ll get a job and we can spend money like we are hemorrhaging it.
I know…but I realized that I was having to buy a new pair of jeans at Old Navy every year, and it was adding up. So now I’ll buy one expensive pair of jeans, and then they last for YEARS. Same with tops and shoes – I got both of those last year, and they still look good!
And what about when the boots don’t fit our “curvy” calves? I’m stillllll looking for some that DO! (PS I’m in Canada)
I have the SAME PROBLEM! That’s why I love those boots. But I just found these:
http://www.zappos.com/rsvp-wynona-extra-wide-calf-dark-brown-micro-suede
EXTRA WIDE CALF! It’s like they heard me screaming in the shoe stores!
I wish Lane Bryant shipped to Canada, because they totally have great boots that fit wide calves!
Babe, you look good in a LOT of things, honestly. I’m not just saying that. Strut your stuff no matter WHAT you wear. MmK?
But I do want those boots.
You were with me when I got them! That was the day Annie gave you a through the tummy high five!
Hi Heather,
You are as BEAUTIFUL on the outside as well as the inside!! When my best friend and I were in the States last fall, we came across a Dress Barn. We don’t have those where we live so we ventured in. WOW!!! We were so impressed by not only their inventory but also by their prices!! They were so reasonable…especially for their shoes and boots!!! Now, when we visit the States we definitely go in the Dress Barn!! It’s one of our favourites now!
