The runways are toting jewel tones for fall 2011.
Ladies, these hues make my heart sing! There isn’t a skin tone or hair color on the planet that doesn’t look fabulous with a touch of deep red or turquoise. Pull out your fushias, sapphires, and citrine yellow! It’s going to be an eye-popping fall.
Since my wardrobe consists of black and more black, I wasn’t sure how to jazz it all up without spending a small fortune. Thus began my love affair with the pashmina (or “shawl” if you’re my mother). Not only is this wrap beautiful, warm, and versatile, it’s also very easy to fold up and take anywhere! And did I mention one size fits all? It’s true! We can all look great in it (unlike the current mini dress trend).
And oh the ways it can change a basic black outfit!
Scarf it up!

Who needs a fall jacket? Not this girl!

Hide from the paparazzi (or the more perky moms in the morning drop-off line).

Pashmina wraps can range in price from $5 (street vendor) to $100 (fancy department store). The one I’m wearing today is a mere $20 from a local boutique, Aldridge Clothiers.
As a fashionista herself, the owner of Aldridge Clothiers has offered to give a pashmina to one lucky Curvy Girl Guide reader! She is also offering a coupon code for an additional 20% any pashmina online! Just enter the code MEREDITH2011. We love her!
All you have to do is leave a comment. That’s easy enough. You can comment on the wrap I’m rocking, tell me about your cat, share a fall fashion tip with us, complain about the weather, go on and on about my hair… anything! Good luck!
This contest ends at 11:59pm EST, Sunday, October 9, 2011.
Each comment counts as one entry into the giveaway.
Comment as many times as you would like.
The winner will be randomly selected and announced Monday morning.

I LOVE my $10 pashmina from the Tampa airport! I wore it all summer as a bathing suit cover up. So many fun ways to wear them!
I love pashminas and the one you’re wearing is gorgeous!
LOVE this look, but I am spastic at wrapping a scarf. Heading over to youtube for tutorials.
Love the bright vibrant color of this wrap, its looks like a magenta color and while pinks are usually not my color of choice I think even I would feel comfortable rocking this one
Love the pashmina! – I have a whole box of scarves that my mother used to wear all the time, but I’ve never quite figured out how to wear them AND be comfortable. I tend to fiddle with anything that’s not securely fastened to what I’m wearing. You should do a tutorial on how to wrap and knot them!
I love a good scarf! I always stock up for mine @ H&M.
Sometimes in Florida a scarf is about as layered as we get to do. I look at all the cute fall clothing pics and wonder how I can rock a sweater and boots when it is still almost 90 degrees in November. Scarves= as close as I can get.
I’ve never known what to do with a scarf…just wrap it around the neck and catch it on things and almost die because HOLY CRAP I JUST STRANGLED MYSELF!
This seems much more elegant. Thanks!
I love pashmina’s!
I love pashminas and scarves! I get cold easy, so there’s that, but I’m also boring when it comes to choosing an outfit. So pashminas make me feel all dressy and fun.
OMG boyfriend “lost” a huge, nasty spider on the table this morning. So here I am enjoying morning coffee and yesterday’s left over chocolate chip pancakes when Mr. Spider comes crawling out from under a stack of bills on the table! As I scream “spider” and frantically slam my napkin down on the table while gagging, boyfriend casually says, “Oh, was that the yellow spider? I saw it earlier, but didn’t get it.” Really?? Thanks for letting me know not to sit there.
P.S. Super cute scarf!
Frankly, my cat is the love of my life.
Except last night I dreamt I lost her, and then just picked a similar looking cat out of a cat lost and found.
Clearly, I am subconsciously the world’s worst pet owner.
(But I do love me some scarves!)
Would love to see if I could rock this!
I love scarves and bags, because they always fit. Coming off a two week bender of pumpkin ice cream and apple pie? Jeans remind you of that, but scarves care not.
I’m new to the whole scarf/pashima trend thing. I use to think they were the same thing, but boy was I wrong! I think the one you are showing here is absolutely Lovely!!
I am also an all black/dark colors wearer, and a huge fan of Curvy Girl Guide/the ever versatile pashmina. However, I seem to only buy them in also black/dark colors!
Well, I don’t have a cat to talk about.. But I do have an awesome dog, Akira. She would look lovely in the pashmina, however I would probably look better! I do love the colors in the one shown.
I was just lamenting how I so dearly wished I had more than one scarf. It’s getting cold out there, and I wanna look cute too! I can’t justify the price right now after paying that (eek!) tuition bill!
Last night I dreamed about Mark Harmon fighting zombies. Where can I go to pitch this to TV execs?
i wanna rock the pashmina…..i think i can do it!
Love it! I saw a pin on Pinterest the other day educating people on various ways to wear these. Such a useful tutorial! Seriously, it had diagrams with arrows and everything……
Wow – the Pashmina’s at Aldridge Clothier’s are gorgeous. I fell in love with the berry and the blue/champagne color combos. I love bright jewel tones for fall.
Now I have to figure out if I love the berry or the blue more, Makes me wish I lived in Ohio, not Seattle, so I could just go snap one up on my lunch hour. I guess I’ll have to wait until the UPS guys drop it off.
