Triple Dare: Put On A Bikini, Take A Photo Of Yourself, Publish It On The Internet

When Brittany told me this weekend that she A) bought a few bikinis, B) was going to have her picture taken wearing said bikinis, and C) post those pictures on the internet, way too many emotions flowed through my heart.

I love my dear friend, and because I love her, I was immediately D) scared for her, E) proud of her, and F) nervous as all get-out for her.

I didn’t doubt she’d look good; she always looks good. But putting on a bikini, having a photo of herself, then posting it on the internet for all the world to see forever and ever?

That’s what nightmares are made of, no matter what size jeans you wear.

But then she did it.

In the words of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis: “This is f*cking awesome.”

Brittany climbed Bikini Mountain, and she has come out the other side braver than I thought she could ever be.

Plus, it doesn’t hurt to have boobs like that to fill out a bikini top, amirite?!

Brava, B! You win everything today.

UPDATE: Huffington Post picked up Brittany’s article and has taken it up a notch. BRAVA!

She posted where to find them all on her blog here:

Kudos to Brittany, great shots and I wouldn’t post photos of me in a bikini on the internet! Huh!

So damn sexy! Britanny: You rock confidence and style. So proud of you.

Wow, G-friend looks hot in that bikini. To be fair, anyone with red hair like that can totally pull off the bikini look. High fives!

Lovely! (and sigh, I want that stomach and the no stretch marks.)

brittany March 18, 2013 at 4:18 pm

Oh I have tons of stretch marks, they run the length of my torso, but they are silver/white. They are almost shiny and they DON’T tan, so when I tan (um which is rare thank God), you can see them like I was in a cat fight. I just sorta decided, there are worse things in life:)

Have to admit…I don’t see the huge deal. I really don’t. She has a fantastic figure. I just don’t see why we continue to make an enormous deal over women who are over a size 8 putting on bathing suits…like spotting a pink unicorn at willy wonka’s chocolate factory. This shouldn’t be “news” any more.

Not saying what she did was not scary…for any woman. It certainly was. It just shouldn’t be ” brave”. Brave is rushing into a burning building to rescue a child, not putting on a bikini (especially on a body like hers! She’s jaw droppingly gorg!)

A dearly departed friend of mine once said, “if you make a big deal of it, it will become a big deal.” This should not be a big deal. This should be no different than a size 0, 2, 4, or 6 wearing their cute bikini’s on vacations or on your average beach or pool day.

I am TWICE her size and have photos of me in bikinis, one pieces, etc., all over facebook, my blog, and on various other sites because truly, it’s not a big deal and what other people think of me is none of my business. If it empowers her, great. But it shouldn’t be a “triple dare” thing. We thick chicks have just as much right to parade around and feel good in our bikini’s as any one else does.

So, I am not going to praise her as “brave”. I don’t think it applies.

I am not going to praise her for looking red hot in her swimsuit.

I am not going to be nervous for her.

It’s a non story because at face value…it is what it is. A beautiful woman wearing beautiful swimwear. Congrats to her for embracing that fact about herself. I will only congratulate her on having the self esteem that EVERY woman deserves. I don’t want her to be the anomaly. She should be the norm…

A woman with confidence. End of story.

Cher, I would like to say thanks for saying exactly what I was thinking. This woman is gorgeous, and it should not be some big shock that a woman would put on a bikini and take pics. If I had that body, I would do the same.

You are gorgeous, woman!

Brittany is a GODDESS. Gorgeous, fearless, perfect in every single way. (ok, not counting insecurity, which we all have.) Women are like snowflakes: Each Made by God, Each Beautiful, Each unique. All you have to do to be gorgeous, is believe, and reveal yourself. The universe will take care of the rest. Women are beautiful by definition. Like water is wet, and sunshine is bright, women, all women are beautiful. In fact there’s only one way NOT to be beautiful as a woman, and that’s to hide yourself. Don’t do it! Let yourself out! Let your light shine!
