Finally, women are represented!

The 2012 Olympic Games in London will be monumental for a variety of reason [sic], but for one reason in particular.

It will mark the first time in Olympic history that every country will have at least one woman competing. via Rant Sports

For the first time in Olympic history all participating teams will have female athletes

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for equal representation. But I don’t think this is quite the victory that many are making it out to be. The fact of the matter is that there are only women on the Saudi Arabia team because the IOC told KSA that if they didn’t field any female competitors, none of their men would be able to compete. I think it will be much more of a victory when all countries fielding a team of competitors voluntarily allow men and women to train and compete.
