Each year, the American Library Association awards a select number of children’s book with the John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature. Other notable acclaims for children’s books include the Randolph Caldecott Medal for the best pictures books and the Michael L. Prinz Award recognizing the best young adult literature.
