Okay, so we’ve talked quite a bit lately about the sexy books that we love. But we promise, we don’t just read books that would make your grandmother blush and lecture you about how your generation has no sense of modesty anymore. Sometimes we can even be kind of classy in our taste in literature.
When asked what their favorite books of all time were, our Curvy Girl writers had lots of favorites to share with me. (None that, to my knowledge, include any BDSM.) These are the top ten books that our writers couldn’t put down, and some of our ladies have read them too many times to count.
What books could you read over and over and never tire reading?

“Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger and “The Bell Jar” by Sylvia Plath. I’m sure the fact that these two books are my favorites says something about me…but I haven’t figured out if it means I’m awesome or people should worry about my mental state…
Great list Kristen!
It’s awesome to see such iconic books on there and I can happily say that I’ve read most of them.
Of course, I have a couple of suggestions…
Liked The Help? Then you should definitely read The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. It’s an instense and incredible read about the slaves living in the house behind the “big house” and the two families. Moved me to tears in many parts.
Like The Hunger Games or anything about dystopian societies? Try Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay. It’s huge, but don’t let that put you off. To read about an entire nations very name being removed by the powerful magic of a usurper, only to be heard by anyone who was born in that province up until the day it fell. Read how the last children of Tigana fight to regain it and fall in love with Devan, Allessan and the rest of the characters.
And of course, if you like funny, smart chick fiction, read any of my books or Shauna Glenn’s. We both have links on our blogs.
Yay! Love ya, lady!
Right back at ya, gaw-geous!!
I just read Tigana and loved it! Found it at a yard sale and bought it for the cover. I read it in four days.
Did you cry at the end?? That book kills me, I read it at least once a year.
1984 by George Orwell!
So…anything you were forced to read in high school?
I wasn’t forced to read any of these in high school, I did however read a few of these when I was supposed to be doing something else in high school. Helloooo, Steven King!
Caddie Woodlawn, and the Little House on the Prairie books. I don’t care if I’m nearing 40, a good book can transport me right into the story at any age!
I LOVED Caddie Woodlawn! I haven’t thought about that book in years, but when I was a kid, I can’t even tell you how many times I read it!!!
I just re-read Flowers in the Attic a few months ago, and it was just as crazy as it was when I was 16 and read it! Great list!!!
