Phyllis Diller died today, which is a huge loss felt by anyone who has a love of comedy, especially women in comedy, of which she was a pioneer.
One of the best quotes I’ve heard of her life and passing has come from Joan Rivers.
“The only tragedy in Diller’s entire life is that she was funny in an era when you had to look funny to be funny. Her lines were so brilliant that all she had to do was stand on the stage and say ’em and you would have cracked up.”
How far we’ve come, ladies. Thank you, Phyllis.
I loved her. She was loud, over the top and funny as hell. She could not be ignored and I dig that in both comediennes and stalkers.
Rest in peace Phyillis…what a wonderous mark you made on this world. Without you humor, wit and transending balls…we would never.know the honest homehitting humor of one miss Brittany herself:)
As your old Buddy Bob Hope would have said ” Thanks for the memories”
I adored this woman and everything about her….rest in beautiful peace Ms. Diller!
She never frieghtened me with her outrageous hair or costumes, instead, I always looked forward to seeing her on TV because I knew she’d make me uncontrollably happy and give me a belly ache from laughing so much!
What a magnificent woman!
She wrote a book titled “Like a Lampshade in a Whorehouse”. Who cares what it was about, with a title like that, you have to read it.
“Cleaning while you have children is like shoveling while its snowing.” She was brilliant.
