SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
This post contains SPOILERS for the September POPSUGAR Box. Do not read if you want to be surprised.
Last month, I felt like the box was missing something. I didn’t know what, it just felt… whatevs.
When the box came yesterday, I didn’t even open it right away. In fact, I forgot about it until bedtime. That never happens. I open utility disconnect notices with gusto when the packaging is fun enough, but for some reason, I was expecting to be underwhelmed this month.
Until I opened it and it was like a parade of happiness. Some people might not love this box, but I did. Everything about it felt like me. Finally.
Inside this box:
Barr-Co. Reed Diffuser. I actually adore diffusers. They feel like grown-up incense sticks, and this one is very pretty.
P.S. You’re Invited by Erica Domesek. This is a gorgeous DIY project book. I am not really a crafter, but the book is so pretty, and I sorta hoard pretty books for my shelves.
Rifle Papee Coaster Set. I LOVE THESE. Seriously, I am so into this vintage floral thing (see: blog header), and these are perfection.
Kitsch Headbands. Win. I have the ponytail version of these, and I am obsessed with them. Things just escalated.
Shoptiques.com $25 Gift Card. Okay I actually hate when they do this, because these sites are never affordable and it’s always a scam to spend more money at a place I never shop. Pass on this BS.
Sharkies. These are chewy electrolyte gummies which I almost tossed but opened by chance and ate the whole bag in four seconds. These were actually amazing, and I want to buy the fuck out of them.
That’s It Fruit Bar. Okay, this blew. I get it, real fruit is exciting. But this tasted sour and like chewed up fruit that had been molded together in a rectangle.
If you are interested, check out POPSUGAR here!
I thought it was a pretty great box as well. But I am definitely not a fan of the gift cards. $25 dollars off a $250 dress, meh. I did the like the fruit bar, but I like fruit leather and it is kind of the same (not very sweet, just dehydrated fruit).
Mine arrives today, but I’ve been following spoilers all along. I can’t wait to get it!
This shirt is only $24.50 and kinda cute… http://www.shoptiques.com/products/dakota-tee
Ooh, it is cute. Maybe I should spend more time looking.
I am SUCH a sucker for gift cards. I LOVE them. I can’t ever wait a day to spend them and find it fun to find things I love at places I don’t usually shop.
Regift it to someone like me, or buy a gift with it if you don’t see anything you like.
Want those hair ties!
So does Popsugar send everyone the same stuff or is there like a quiz when you sign up that tailors the stuff to your tastes?
For now, everyone gets the same stuff (with some variation in colors). They do have you fill out a questionnaire with questions about your taste in make-up, jewelry, etc, so maybe somewhere down the line the boxes will be more catered to individual tastes.
This box, for me and for a pop sugar box, was kinda “meh”. But the brilliance of pop sugar boxes is that even when they are only “meh”, is that they are still really good. The fruit bar was a tasty treat, my husband ate the chews and enjoyed them. I make it a point to put at least one item away for regifting purposes, this alone makes the boxes worth the price, the coasters will be put in the gift box as they didn’t exactly scream to me to keep them. I may put the diffuser in the gift box as well, or I may use it. The gift card is whatevs, because its more of a coupon than a gift card since everything on the site is uber pricey, so it may also be regifted to someone who I know will be able to afford some swanky swag, or I may periodically check shoptique for sales and clearance. And the book … “meh” … seemed really exciting at first, it is gorgeously bound and lovely, but the actual projects left a lot to be desired, there are only a few projects I thought looked worthwhile, and maybe some of the others could be tweaked with different materials , but overall, most of the stuff looked really tacky and “unfinished” … the fact that Stacy London actually did the forward on this book blew my mind … I may keep it, I may regift it, who knows. Most of this box, with the exception of foodstuffs, will probably be regifted. So while I wasn’t blown away this month,it wasn’t a total waste either …
Clearly, you need this bikini. Use the gift card. Or send it to me and I’ll get a custom fit sailor girl bikini. ;)

When you first started talking about these boxes, I thought it would be something I’d like to sign up for when I got a little extra money. But when that time came, and I started really looking at everything that was in the boxes, I decided it wasn’t worth it, because none of the items were things that I would buy for myself if I saw them in the store. BirchBoxes are much more my speed – I’m only on my second month with those and have already found several new products that I want to use. I also do BarkBoxes for my dogs. Now that’s REALLY fun!
